An inspiring Russian ballet inspired from folk stories
The world-renowned ballet composed by Russia's Pyotr llyich Tchaikovsky in 1875-76 tells the story of a princess named Odette who was turned into a swan by an evil sorcerers curse. Now one of the world's most popular ballets and showcased internationally with varying versions of choreography and music - the ballet was first performed in 1877 in Moscow and was even went on to be showcased by the Imperial Ballet.
Performing the timeless story of love and treachery with various styles of character dancing is the stellar cast of the official State Ballet of Georgia - the Atlanta Ballet, considered one of the finest dance companies in the country founded in 1929. Not only has the Atlanta Ballet delivered a diverse mix of pioneering dance for over 80 years with everything from classics to new interpretations; the company has a commitment to providing educational and community programs which today serves more than 20,000 students a year and brings its passion for dance to everyone.
