Why see Atlanta Symphony Orchestra - All Haydn?
Celebrating Haydn
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra presents an exquisite all-Haydn program, guest-conducted by Matthew Halls and featuring the supremely talented cellist Sterling Elliott. A rich exploration of Haydn's genius, the program opens with the overture to L'isola Disabitata, before Sterling Elliott brings his dynamic energy to Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 2, a staple of the cello repertoire.
The concert culminates with Haydn's Symphony No. 101, affectionately known as 'The Clock'. One of Haydn's London symphonies, the work is celebrated for its inventive use of rhythm and its charming, clock-like motif in the second movement.
