Atlanta Symphony Orchestra An American in Paris

Why see Atlanta Symphony Orchestra An American in Paris?

Gershwin Greatness

Witness a concert that will transport you to Paris through the eyes of an American, in this thrilling performance George Gershwin's An American In Paris! One of the hallmark pieces of the American composer's repertoire, his signature, jazz-tinged playfulness is all across the piece, which inspired a 1951 movie of the same name.

An American In Paris was written by Gershwin after his visits to Paris around 1926, having initially traveled to study under Ravel and later returning having become firm friends with the composer. Don't miss out on this splendid rendition by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, as well as a performance of Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand featuring Kirill Gerstein, and Ibert's Escales, all conducted by the guesting Stephane Deneve.
