Although Sixto Rodriguez's music career took over 40 years to kick-off, 2012 saw the Detroit singer-songwriter shoot to international stardom with the release of Searching for Sugarman, a documentary movie about his success in South Africa and the fans who traveled to the USA to try find the elusive musician they'd listened to growing up in the 80s.
The bulk of his most popular songs are from his album Cold Fact, originally released in 1970. Songs such as 'Sugarman', 'Crucify Your Mind' and 'I Wonder' slowly made their way into popular culture and now, largely thanks to the Oscar-nominated documentary, are synonymous with the politically and socially charged, self-aware songwriting that is his trademark.

Muy buen Concierto
Yo fui a ver a Rodriguez con mi esposo y mi hijo, y fue una experiencia muy bonita,
como persona es muy cortés con la gente, muy amable y bromista, me gusto todo,
desde la cantante que le abrió (Vare Sola) y hasta como hizo sentir a la gente cuando
todo el publico se puso de pie aplaudiendo para que regresara a cantar otra canción. a
lo cual accedió y el montón de gente se fue para enfrente para seguir disfrutando y

Just watched "Searching for
Sugarman" and fell in love with
Rodriguez. I'm native American and
Philipino and he looks just like
someone I can identify with. So shy
with his back to the audience and a
voice captivating and brutally sincere.
Our idols have made fortunes and
have become somewhat out of reach.
This man God bless him, is not bitter
about not having been paid his dues. I
can't wait to see him, and more
importantly buy his merch, so he can
get the dime, although he probably
would just bless someone else with it.
We need more souls like this simple,
beautiful man... thank you for bringing
